Weds, 29 Feb 2012 7pmWe are pleased to announce that Qehilloth Sharoth has arrived at our synagogue. The program includes an introduction to a liturgical song and a brief history of the song and its composer. (A translation of the poetic work will hopefully be included.) Afterwards, an instructor will teach the hymn as sung in traditional circles. Each session begins with a rewiew of the songs already studied. The program concludes with Evening Services. 

(Tues 7:30 pm) Les mardi soirs à 19h30Le Rav Uriël Elyahou Aviges anime une fois par semaine un cours de pensées juives en francais. Ces cours sont dédiés a la mémoire de Elyahou ben Martine Rosine, Thierry Saada z'l. Habituellement nous nous réunissons pour un cours de pensée juive à propos de la paracha de la semaine ou bien pour une discussion sur les fêtes (hagguim) en fonction de l'actualité du calendrier. Le cours est accompagné d'une collation (pizza/suchi).

En plus d'être rabin et juge (dayyån), le Hakham Uriël Aviges a écrit et publié de nombreux ouvrages en hébreu, le plus célèbre est le Nahalå Belî Mesårîm (commentaire sur la Haggadå et lois de Pâque). Lire la suite ici.

Sunday Morning ~9:45 am -- 10:30 amTopic: Order of the Laws in Horayoth The order of laws in Tractate Horayoth in comparison to the Tosephta. Much of this class will be a review of the research by our teacher and mentor, Prof. Zvi Arie Steinfeld. 

Next Session TBAAdvanced Students: Maimonides' Dalalatu-l-Ha'irin  In our last session Professor Lawrence Kaplan lectured on: The Purpose of the Guide.  Students attending consulted the original Arabic and commentaries. The class was based upon Maimonides' Introduction to Part 1; 1:26; 2:2, Preface; 2:29, the section at end of the chapter beginning "As the exposition has finally reached this point" (65b); Introduction to Part 3: and 3:27-28.
